Free Museum Weekend
March 1 & 2, 2025 • Free ticket registration opens February 24!
The California Museum is collaborating with Sacramento Area Museums to present a FREE museum experience on Saturday, March 1 and Sunday, March 2. Whether you’re a first-time or long-time California Museum visitor, we look forward to welcoming you to our signature exhibits, and traveling exhibit Our War Too: Women in Service!

Registration
Beginning February 24 at 9:00 am, free ticket registration will be available at sacmuseums.org/free-museum-weekend until all tickets have been secured.*
*Registration is recommended to guarantee admission to the California Museum, but both registered and non-registered visitors can receive free admission on both days, subject to building capacity limits.
Free Museum Weekend Hours
- Saturday, March 1: 10:00 am – 5:00 pm (last entry 4:00 pm)
- Sunday, March 2: 10:00 am** – 5:00 pm (last entry 4:00 pm)
**Please note that the California Museum usually opens at 12:00 pm on Sundays. This modified 10:00 am opening time is for Free Museum Weekend only.
Transportation
To make visiting local museums accessible to everyone on Free Museum Weekend, @ridesacrt will offer free rides from 6:00 am – 7:00 pm on March 1 and 2. Riders must print or screenshot a flyer to present the day of their ride by visiting www.sacrt.com/freerideflyer.

Join us for a FREE film screening of Netflix’s “The Six Triple Eight” from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm on Saturday, March 1! The film is based on the story of the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion—the first and only all-Black, all-female battalion deployed overseas, featured in temporary exhibit Our War Too: Women in Service.
