California Museum Reopens with Free Admission for Moms on Sat., May 8 & Sun., May 9
Visitors welcomed back with new COVID-19 protocols, plus free admission for all mothers with advance registration during Mother’s Day weeken
MAY 3, 2021 – SACRAMENTO, CALIF.: Today, the California Museum announced it reopens to the public at 10 a.m. on Sat., May 8, 2021. In recognition of Mother’s Day, all moms are eligible to receive free admission on Sat., May 8 and Sun., May 9 with advance ticket registration. Visitors return with new health and safety protocols, such as increased cleaning, advance contactless ticketing, socially distanced gallery routes and required face masks. In keeping with the California Department of Public Health’s guidance, the Museum’s interim policies and protocols during COVID-19 feature:
• Limited summer hours Thursday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
• $3 discount or $7 general admission with advance registration to encourage contactless entry.
• Face mask covering nose and mouth required for all visitors over age 2, staff and volunteers, following California Department of Public Health guidelines.
• Limited occupancy of 20 percent or 10 visitors per half hour.
• Socially distanced gallery routes marked by signage and graphics.
• Complimentary hand sanitizer provided throughout the facility.
• Downloadable visitor guide with map to conduct self-guided tours.
Three exhibits launched during the Museum’s temporary closure also reopen to the public, including “Women Inspire: California Women Changing Our World” and “Fight for the Right: 100 Years of Women Voting,” both developed in collaboration with California First Partner Jennifer Siebel Newsom, plus the traveling exhibit “Yosemite People.”
The Museum will also continue offering online exhibits, events and field trips during the pandemic while monitoring recommendations by the California Department of Public Health and the Sacramento County Department of Public Health.
