Development Associate

Position Overview:
By helping maintain a stable donor and member base, the Development Associate advances the Museum’s mission to educate people about California’s rich history, its diversity, and its unique influence on the world. Under the supervision of the Development Director, the Development Associate implements the Museum’s membership program and supports other development department functions.
Responsibilities:
- Support the Development Director in creating and implementing a comprehensive development/membership plan that diversifies revenue sources, increases funds raised, and elevates funder/member engagement to advance the Museum’s mission.
- Assist with the development and implementation of grant proposals, fundraising events, and annual giving campaigns
- Maintain donor databases (CRMs), track activities, and support donor recognition/stewardship. Create donor invoices, acknowledgement letters, and other communications
- Assist with donor research and prospect pipeline development
- Manage day-to-day aspects of membership program including processing memberships, issuing renewal reminders, and producing acknowledgments. Provide exceptional customer service as the primary point of contact for members
- Support the development and delivery of programming designed to increase member engagement
- Other duties as required

Qualifications:
- One year of related professional experience
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
- Experience with donor management software a plus
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Proof of COVID-19 vaccination and booster(s) or an approved exemption
- Fluency in English required; bilingual English/Spanish a plus
Position:
Full-time non-exempt, reports to Development Director. Typical work hours Mon.-Fri. 8:30 am- 5:00 pm. with occasional evening and/or weekend hours. Eligible for up to 20% remote work after 90 days. Benefits include paid vacation and holidays, dental and vision insurance, employer-subsidized health plan, and 401(k) savings plan with match. Starting salary range $45,000-$48,000.
